Global Aviation Summit 2019 in Mumbai to focus on trends in air travel and cargo; app launched

Mobile App launchThe Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is organizing a Global Aviation Summit with a theme “Flying for all – especially the next 6 Billion” on 15-16 January, 2019 in Mumbai.

The objective of the Summit is to provide a platform to the stakeholders to brainstorm over the future of aviation industry and identify the growth areas. The Summit also aims to offer the stakeholders an opportunity to explore, deliberate and understand how technology-driven innovations will change air travel in the decades to come.

The event will host experts and CEOs from Global Aviation Fraternity emphasizing on the latest trends, futuristic aircraft and cutting-edge technologies. It also gives the opportunity to highlight latest concepts like drones, air taxis, volocopters, new jets and ultra-light aerial electric vehicles etc. It will discuss on airports of future, innovations, safety & security, financing & leasing, sustainability and above all growth drivers – cargo, logistics.

Meanwhile, an official mobile application for Global Aviation Summit 2019 (GAS 2019) was launched by Mr Jayant Sinha, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India on December 19, 2018. The application was launched in the presence of Mr R.N. Choubey, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman, Airports Authority of India, Dr. Shefali Juneja, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and other officials of AAI.

The GAS 2019 mobile application is available on Playstore and iOS. It provides a glimpse of the Summit and can be used to access latest updates about the mega event. The application enables users to interact with the co-delegates and speakers.


The guest list for the Summit includes Transport & Civil Aviation ministers from Laos, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal and Jamaica, Civil Aviation Authorities and Directorate Generals of Civil Aviation (DGCAs) from 22 countries.

The Summit also expected to be attended by Mr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, President, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO); Mr. Alexandre de Juniac, Director General, the International Air Transport Association (IATA); Ms. Angela Gittens, Director-General, the Airports Council International (ACI); Mr. Jeff Poole, Director-General, the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO), Mr. Emmanuel Menanteau, Co-CEO, Kansai Airport, Mr. Florian Reuter, CEO, Volocopter GmbH; Mr. Rafal Milczarski, CEO & President of the Management Board, Polish Airlines; Mr. Marc Pissens, President Global Aviation Division; Mr. Don Thoma, CEO, Aireon; Mr. Stephen Beatty, Global Head – Aviation, KPMG. The Summit will also host various B2G, B2B and G2G meetings.
