“Global Logistics Summit” will be inaugurated by Commerce & Industry Minister at FICCI House

cargo terminalTo support awareness building and develop better understanding on the issues pertaining to logistics industry, Department of Commerce in Ministry of Commerce & Industry, World Bank Group and FICCI are jointly organizing, in partnership with FFFAI, DCCAA, AMTOI and EICI, a Global Logistics Summit on 5 & 6 April 2018 Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry House, in New Delhi. The theme of the Summit reveals that efficient logistics is critical for countries like India. In the last decade or so, significant improvements in various logistics have taken place and India has improved its ranking in the “Logistics Performance Index” from 54 in 2014 to 35 in 2016. However, compared to countries like Singapore (rank 5), South Africa (20), Taiwan (25) and China (27), India still has a long way to go. Clearly, to keep up with the growth in demand for logistics services, it is important to develop a consistent approach to logistics across infrastructure, services and different modes of transportation.

To discuss the issues and requirement of effective logistics services this high-profile Summit will be attended and addressed by Commerce & Industry Minister Mr Suresh Prabhu; Mr Bibek Debroy, Member of NITI Aayog; Secretary-Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH); Commerce Secretary; Chairperson-CBEC; Member (Customs)-CBEC; Mr Amitabh Kanth, CEO of NITI Aayog; Mr Ashish Pednekar, Chairman, FFFAI and several other senior officials and national as well as international experts.
