Textiles Ministry to host first ever ‘Textiles India 2017’ in Gujarat from June 30 to July 2, 2017

The first ever Global B2B Textile event, to be held in India, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. To be held from June 30 to July 2, 2017 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar adjacent to Ahmedabad in Gujarat, the Indian Textile and handicraft Sector will showcase at this event the entire range of textile products from ‘Fibre to Fashion’. The aim is to make it one of the key annual destinations for International Buyers.

According to the Ministry of Textiles sources, ‘Textile India 2017’ shall have more than thousand stalls and will witness the presence of over 2500 discerning International buyers, agents, designers, retail chains from across the world, and 15000 domestic buyers. The three day event will include global conference on the last day with six themes, to be chaired by concerned Union ministers. The Valedictory session will be presided over by the Union Finance Minister, Mr Arun Jaitley. Over 33 round-tables will be held on issues of concern for the various segments of textiles and handicrafts on the second day i.e., 1st July, which will be participated by prominent international speakers & industry leaders.

“Textiles India 2017 holds the promise of becoming a landmark annual trade event for the Indian textiles and apparel industry at the global level. The Ministry is celebrating the significant achievements of India’s textile industry and the enormous promise of spectacular growth over the next few years,” said Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Textiles Minister, while speaking at the Curtain Raiser function pertaining to ‘Textiles India 2017’, held in New Delhi. The function was also attended by Minister of State, Mr Ajay Tamta; Secretary, Textiles, Smt. Rashmi Verma; other senior officials, ambassadors of textile partner countries, industrialists and industry associations.
